Nuremberg Airport Switches to GS Planning
AirPart GmbH, the ground services subsidiary owned by Nuremberg Airport, decided to replace its previous demand planning system with GS Planning.

The airport has already been using INFORM’s GroundStar systems for many years in the staff allocation for daily operations, as well as in the planning and real-time management of terminal resources, such as stands and baggage belts. In 1999, magnetic boards were replaced by GS RealTime to support the allocation of loading staff, which was later also rolled-out to the bus department. In 2001, Nuremberg Airport installed GroundStar for the planning and real-time management of aircraft stands, gates and baggage belts. This means that the system has been successfully underpinning airport operations for approximately ten years.
The most recent enhancement has been to implement GS Planning for staff demand planning in place of the previous demand planning software. “We took this decision because we found that GS Planning gave us more comprehensive features than we had before. Requirements such as the visualization of multi flight tasks and automatic coverage of peak times were important to us and were all satisfied by GS Planning,” says Peter Eisenhut, Senior Manager of Staff Planning AirPart GmbH.
The implementation for demand planning of approximately 180 loading staff has just been finished and successfully tested. A further roll-out to the bus, cabin cleaning, baggage sorting, passenger services and operation departments is scheduled to take place soon.
