GroundStar Connect Makes for Smooth Flight Connections
Passenger and baggage misconnections are a costly factor in daily aviation. In order to deliver a tool that helps to reduce these costs and improve passenger experience, INFORM has developed intelligent software to foresee critical connections and find the best available solutions. >>
INFORM’s Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM)
INFORM’s Turnaround Management system called GS HubControl, has proven to be a successful solution.
In use at four major Hubs internationally, GS HubControl helped
the first airline that implemented it to improve its turnaround
performance by over 40%. The system is the common solution
for all HCC or ACC agents with an agreed A-CDM process.
GS HubControl monitors and guides the real-time progress of
each turnaround handling process, from planning through execution
while at the same time suggesting possible delay codes based on
observed root causes.
Via consistently calculated and updated Target Off-Block Time
(TOBT), the system advises on the likely delay to outbound flights
unless corrective action is taken.
Monitoring the air-to-air progress of each flight in accordance with
EUROCONTROL’s 16 A-CDM milestones – from the moment of
filing the flight plan at the previous airport to the actual take-off
time at the current one - the solution assists the NASP’s planning
process by applying the decision-making support from an integrated
Pre-Departure Sequencer powered by ATRiCS. Two German
airports are currently implementing this functionality, while the
Pre-Departure Manager Module is already in place at Germany’s
largest Hub.
GS HubControl’s Cost Model enables the system to advise the
airline of the exact revenue from its in- or outbound flight at any
given time. The revenue inherently reflects the number of transfer
passengers aboard; this enables the airline to easily define its
turnaround priorities. GS HubControl’s Joint What-If enhancement
helps the airline by indicating to ATC its flight departure sequencing
preferences in a preferred manner.
“GS HubControl puts this real-time and predictive information at
the HCC/ACC Managers’ fingertips. The result is a reduction in
delay costs, in the ripple effects on the airline’s systems and in
airspace congestion, as well as improved interaction between all
parties involved,” concludes Gero Hoppe, INFORM’s HubControl
and A-CDM Solution Manager.
