Space for Additional 200 Employees
INFORM has completed the construction of a new building at its Aachen campus. The Airport Division has already moved in and geothermal energy provides a comfortable working environment.

All INFORM employees - especially those of the Airport Division - were looking forward to the completion of the new building. Given constant growth over the past years the existing buildings and additional rented facilities had become too small and could not cater for the expected number of new staff. “Only last year we welcomed 50 new employees – this was as many as ever before in any one single year. One can imagine what this means as we still plan to employ more staff,” says Adrian Weiler, INFORM’s CEO.
The new building has space for an additional 200 staff and in future it will also be possible to expand it by a further 170 workplaces.
“The layout has been carefully thought out and is very sophisticated,” says Mr. Weiler. All offices are centered around a central meeting point. The offices are combined in so-called clusters of up to eight team offices. “In this way we create a team-oriented environment which, in my opinion, is indispensable for innovative software development.”
Furthermore, there is a leafy park, as well as a large cafeteria, and fitness and massage rooms, all of which provide for an enjoyable working atmosphere.
The technology used in the new building has been specifically chosen with a view to protecting the environment: geothermal energy ensures efficient air conditioning. To bring about this challenging project INFORM chose an expert company which – like INFORM many years ago – is a spin-off from Aachen university: aix-o-therm plans and develops projects to provide cost efficient heating and cooling using geothermal energy. This means that the comfortable environment that visitors and INFORM staff experience in the new building is provided from the conversion of ground water beneath the building. The building also has stateof- the-art ventilation: a patented technology for automatic ventilation and recovery of stale air provides clean fresh air.
All visitors are more than welcome to a tour of our new premises and experience the new home of the Airport Systems Division and GroundStar.
