GS Planning

GS Planning covers the optimised strategic planning for the long-, medium- and short term for all kinds of resources in airports (stands, gates, lounges, baggage carrousels, check-in counters) and ground handling operations (staff and ground support equipment). Based on easily configurable business rules, GS Planning determines resource requirements. Base data for the planning process are flight schedules, configured combining the information typically obtained from multiple sources in various formats. The demand calculation for people, equipment as well as for the different immobile resources is based on the so-called engagement standards. The result of the immobile resource planning is a master plan, which forms the basis for the real-time allocation.

The planning process of staff includes a second phase for the coverage of the demand profile with an optimised shift plan and, beyond that, with the creation of shift patterns based on union contracts and other hard and soft regulations. GS Planning’s “what-if” scenario capabilities enable an easy way to determine optimum staffing levels, most cost effective contract mix of staff (full-time versus part-time), cross-utilisation possibilities, different service levels and other options.

GS Planning facilitates the application of best business practices to ensure high service levels at minimum resource cost.
